Went for a walk to the Lough in Cork City, a haven for all kinds of birds, including of course ducks geese swans, coots and moorhens, etc
There were no mallard to be seen, strangely enough. But tufted duck in numbers, and a pair (duck and drake) of shovelars.
Along with the usual piebald geese there was one slightly smaller but authentically marked "brown" goose. On closer examination I was sure it was a pink footed goose.
I sent pictures to paul Walsh of Waterford Birds, and his response was as fiollows...

"This is a Pink-foot alright, but given the location it's probably a feral/non-wild bird (even if free-flying). I think there was one at the Lough back in my UCC days (in early 80s), and may there's a regular bird or birds there still - it's a while since I've had a look myself."
